For the past ten years, Josephine Gerrard has devoted her law practice exclusively to Appellate advocacy representing claimants before the Social Security Administration, primarily before the United States District Courts, the United States Courts of Appeal, and the United States Supreme Court. Her practice combines her background in Communication and disabilities, debate and law.

Ms. Gerrard holds a JD from Golden Gate University School of Law, a MA in Communication from San Francisco State University, and (Ph.C.) from Pennsylvania State University.

She taught at the university level for five years at San Francisco State and Penn State. Subsequently she became interested in Communicative disorders and became a speech pathologist working for over 10 years in the Oakland Public Schools. She holds a MS in Communicative Disorders from California State University, Northridge.  She is the author of “Yoga for Stuttering” (North Atlantic Books).

Her combined background in law and communication informs her advocacy, particularly in cases involving cognitive, communicative, and psychological impairments.
