Erik W. Berger is a partner at Osterhout Berger Daley Law, where he leads the firm’s Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, and Individual Disability Insurance practice. Born and raised in a blue-collar family in Western Pennsylvania, Erik knew early that he wanted to advocate for working people. After graduating from Duquesne University School of Law, he began his career representing individuals with disabilities and has done so ever since.
Erik spent nearly 15 years running his own disability-focused practice before merging with Karl and Lindsay Osterhout to form Osterhout Berger Disability Law (now OBD). He represents disability claimants nationwide in ERISA, private disability, and coordinated Social Security disability matters. With deep experience in both SSDI and LTD/IDI claims, Erik is known for his no-nonsense approach to building medical and vocational records, combating insurer tactics, and litigating ERISA denials in federal court.
He has served as a speaker at numerous disability law conferences and previously chaired the Jacksonville Bar Association’s Social Security Section. Erik lives in the San Marco neighborhood of Jacksonville with his wife and two children. When he’s not pushing insurance companies to do the right thing, he can usually be found coaching youth sports or out on the golf course or tennis and basketball courts.
